When I got to the cafe yesterday, I was greeted with a most wonderous sight: Mike, the owner, was being helped by Stuart, a local painter I know, to put a new painting on the wall. Stuart had done a beautiful painting of Charlton House, just up the path from the cafe. The image was stunning. About a metre by a metre, it captured the old house in all it's regal, seventeenth-century glory. It was framed, as if seen through a window, upon which a bird sat; before the house was the green, where I could just imagine a cricket match being played; above the house was a sky as blue as jade. It was a truly remarkable piece of work, and I could look at it for hours. I now have yet another reason to visit the cafe. In the meantime, you can check out Stu's work here.
